Like many people of the 21st century, I had been exposed to the principles of the law of attraction. I believed that I created my own reality. Why then, did I find myself jobless, with my home in foreclosure, penniless, and alone? WHY wasn’t the law of attraction working for me???
The answer: It was. It always does. I just hadn’t recognized it, given I was so steeped in victimhood and self pity.
Then, I made a choice. I threw the law of attraction out the window. I decided the only thing that mattered to me…was that I was happy. I was tired of living in scarcity, struggle and fear. I decided I’d rather be a happy, homeless bag lady, than have things but live in terror every day. Happiness, not success, was my new focus.
Then I had another thought. Since I wasn’t going to let my dire circumstances get me down, why not apply the law of attraction just for fun? Every morning I imagined sitting at a café in the south of France, with my higher self, my future self and my subconscious mind. I would explain exactly how I wanted to feel that day. “I want to feel happy today,” I would say. “I want to feel excited, prosperous, creative and valued!”
And an amazing thing happened. No matter what my life held (and for a while it held temping for slightly above minimum wage), I felt those feelings! Soon the circumstances of my life began to change. A company I temped for hired me full-time. Then the president started another company, hiring me as vice-president! Six months later he closed the doors, but I took $50 and started my own company, which grew (without another dollar) to a $5million company.
All this time, being happy was my first priority.
I applied the same principles to my love life and attracted my current husband. I now live a dream come true, with homes in the Bahamas and Boulder…feeling all those feelings every day in spades!
What I realized is the law of attraction does work—without fail. And that it can work for you, or against you. Teaching people how to consciously create a life they truly love gives my life the deepest meaning because I know it is possible for everyone.
