loving

How do we live meaningful lives? We started out in a traditional way, looking for meaning in outer things: success, money, toys. The more we looked outside, the clearer it became to us that the huge secret of the outer game is staying on top of our Inner Game. What is the Inner Game? Loving, learning, and sharing.
Follow your heart. That sounds really nice, but how you do that exactly? How do you tell the difference between the deep calling of your heart and an emotional whim? That quest has led us into places and vocations we had never dreamed of. We ask deep inner questions: “Am I doing this for myself or someone else? Will this further my deepest values? Is this for the highest good of all? Is this the most loving choice I can make?”
Learn. Life is constantly teaching us and we find that nearly everything that happens is a learning opportunity. “What can I learn about myself? What can I learn about others? What can I learn about life and how to be more loving and more giving?” This approach helps us transform any situation into something meaningful.
Support. Life happens and there are challenges every day. That just seems to go with being human. We support each other in staying true to our values, our Inner Game. We trade off support roles so that when one of us is challenged, the other one acts as a support. Influences are important so we very carefully choose our friends and what we feed our minds.
Take small steps every day. Some of the goals we set for ourselves can seem daunting or even insurmountable. We forget that a big goal is simply a bunch of small steps. All those tiny steps added together make significant progress. For example, if your goal is a loving relationship, what small step can you take right now to go in that direction?
Loving. It took us years to learn how to create a loving, conscious relationship and now we treasure it. Relationships offer some of the richest learning opportunities. We use all our tools to become more loving with ourselves and each other every day.
One more thing … we laugh a lot!
