embodiment

I’m dedicated to the exploration of the feminine and what it means when we strip away old dogmas and all the things we’ve learned about spirituality, which have been influenced by our more masculine values. Investigating what feminine spirituality looks like, embodied and real, day to day, is what my life is about.
In my experience, embodying feminine spirituality means reclaiming a confident and trusting relationship with my feeling world – not considering feelings to be obstacles, but a navigation system and the expression of the feminine gift. By taking away the concept of resistance to feelings, we release tremendous aliveness, energy, and wisdom.
The core practice is to feel the feeling as a sensation in the body rather than moving it as tension up into the mental realm, to the story about the feeling. What we call feelings are indirect experiences of something happening in the body, so keeping feelings in the body is more of a raw experience, particularly as the nature of feelings is energy and energy changes all the time. When we feel stuck in a feeling it’s simply that we’re stuck in the story about the feeling, which is like a well-behaved version of the physical feeling itself.
An aspect of this practice involves moving completely into a feeling and moving the body with the feeling – like by dancing or using sounds – to consciously give feelings space and to move together with them. Not to get rid of the feelings, but to see that them as expressions and celebrate them, even if what we feel is irritation at someone. In this way, we relax our resistance. It’s a way of staying awake and present here in the moment, even in the midst of feeling.
This practice creates and enhances an inner sense of lightness and vibrancy, of being at home in the body. I consider the body to be earthly and the Earth to be awakened consciousness, so being at home in the body is being at home on Earth. Embracing our feminine spirituality by embodying our feelings returns us home in a very basic way and gives us a deep sense of belonging.
As I’ve been creating a place online where women all over the world can connect, a conscious community for women interested in feminine and embodiment practices, I’ve had an intuitive sense that the unfolding of this vision is much bigger than me, that I’m planting a seed. I’m incredibly excited about all of these women coming together. What’s going to happen?
