completion

Give me a good idea and I am truly alive. I’m conjuring, exploring, and calculating, fully engaged and enthusiastic about making it a reality. Without a good idea, no matter how beautiful the setting or the company, I tend toward boredom and restlessness. I need to build things, to enlist the support of others in collaboration, and to work in partnership to transform an inspired spark into a roaring bonfire.
My wife attributes my drive to my big ego, to thinking I can do anything and everything … simultaneously. And she’s right – I do think that. I could be the poster child for “Can Do!” … and yet, there’s also the potential for frustration and disappointment. Early in my adult life, I started creating all sorts of ideas, with grand aspirations, only to find that I didn’t stick with them. Without proper attention to the next steps toward realization, my great ideas aged poorly. Six months later, a once “fantastic notion” would be cast aside as a silly or bad idea, never to be seen again.
Now, at the age of 49, immersed in a new real estate company layered with fresh innovation and business strategies, I can best answer the question of what’s most meaningful in my life simply: completion. I’ve received and continue to receive immense, rewarding value through the process of completing a task or idea to fruition. My daily participation is focused on actions that are founded on inspiration and love and so, by the time I put my head on my pillow to sleep, I’m peaceful and satisfied that the day just completed was one of purpose and content.
Is every day a blissful journey of butterflies and bounty? No. Challenges and heightened emotional states are part of the dance … and yet, because I’m creating the reality that speaks to my dreams and ideals, life is so much easier. And because I experience the gratifying joy of seeing a project through to the finish line, I enjoy the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that are glowing by-products of the endeavor. The momentum created and fed by this course of action continues to drive and feed my desire to go forward to new and greater heights, knowing that I have the confidence to achieve what I set out to accomplish.
Dream the reality you desire and create it … one completion at a time.
