nourishment

My journey to the jungle has brought me to a place of amazing beauty and inspiration. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep awareness and understanding of natural nourishment. I’m nourished and inspired not only by the natural world around me, but also by what I put into my body, by the people I meet, and by the relationships I create.
I’m a very driven person, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Being driven is perfect for entrepreneurship, but I can easily feel overwhelmed by the many things I want to accomplish in my life. The jungle provides so much wisdom and a slow steady pace. Its natural rhythms and cycles remind me to slow down and take a break from the fast-paced, increasingly ubiquitous world of technology.
Visiting the jungle can be a very powerful experience. Our guests here have no Internet access and only limited cell phone service. For the most part, they’re disconnected from the world they’re familiar with. I try to put myself in their shoes to understand how they’re seeing this beautiful, slow-paced, natural world for the first time.
Running a business in Mexico has taught me to be empathetic and patient. People in Mexico have different priorities in life than the priorities in American culture. They put their family and their happiness before their work. Things will get done, but not necessarily at the pace I was raised to expect.
Most of us move at such a fast pace. Understanding body signals has become a lost art. It’s time to slow down and listen to what your unique body needs. Make a commitment to your health. Absorb the nourishment around you. Once you start to nourish yourself, the channels of inspiration will open up. Everything in your life will start to flow more naturally. Soon you’ll rediscover the energy to do the things you want to do.
Listen to your heart, your body, and your mind. They’re all interconnected. It’s healthy to step out of our comfort zones and push ourselves to what I call the stretch zone, but when we push too far, we end up in a stressful, anxious zone. Instead, take some advice from nature. Stay on the slow and healthy track. Take care of yourself and really enjoy the journey of your life.
