healthy home

There is an expression in feng shui which says that what is going on in your space is going on in your life. Our homes are both a reflection of our inner world as well as a cause in what we are manifesting. These two systems are interrelated. Outer affects inner and inner affects outer.
I have always been sensitive to my space, but as a teenager I struggled with making time to regularly clean my room. I would do what we called “the big clean” every few weeks or a month. Things would start to slowly fall apart until the next big clean.
As I grew to be more independent, and lived outside of my mother’s jurisdiction, it became more important to me that my space reflect who I felt like inside. As I have evolved over time, my relationship with my space has gone through changes, shifting and shedding similar to how a snake sheds a skin.
Not long after I moved to California I discovered feng shui: the art and science of setting up your space with intention and purpose. This had a profound impact on me and my relationship to the invisible aspects of my space as well as all of my “stuff.” I learned the importance of Life Force Energy and how to arrange things to invite success in all areas.
Even though I have cultivated this awareness, I will still start to tune out to certain parts of my space over time. Things go on automatic pilot. It’s like walking through my home is a blur. It often wasn’t until I found myself going through a health crisis that I would be called to take action. After any illness I have found that the first thing I want to do is clean. Open the windows, wash the sheets. Create a clean slate. It just feels better that way.
With a little perspective I start to become aware of how my space has been affecting me. Over time I realized it wasn’t always my outer space being invited to change, but my inner space as well. This could be my level of hydration or the thoughts I am thinking.
It is my wish for everyone to know how much power there is in making micro-shifts to your environment. Little actions, repeated, can cause enormous and profound changes in your overall health and well-being, as well as happiness, abundance and passion!
