authentic

I’ve been influenced in everything I’ve done by my children, by wanting to be a role model for them. I try to be the change I wish to see while being the person I am. What helps me are kind words, good intentions, and being in the moment, open to allowing the universe to provide its beautiful gifts.
I went through a huge transition in my life when my 12-year marriage ended. Everything I thought I was supposed to be doing and working for – my whole vision of my future – failed then. I asked myself what the message was. It took a year to come to me. By then, I’d lost the job I’d been afraid of losing and everything had turned. The message hit me like a baseball bat to the backs of my knees and I found myself kneeling on the floor thanking God for the realization that I can only live for today.
It was such a clear message and I started looking at life differently. Doors started opening. I had a vision about my calling and felt a clear direction to my life. I started my own company where I’m now surrounded by amazing people. I found land with a natural waterfall and built a paradise retreat center. I cry almost every time I go there, realizing what’s happened since my life fell apart and then came together again in a different way.
I have a beautiful life. I rent the retreat center out on weekends and go there for myself other times. It’s where I get my personal time and do my designing. I reconnect there as a human to the earth.
I feel a lot of gratitude, about everything. Gratitude always brings me back if I get off track. When I have challenges and hard times and darkness, I try to be grateful anyway, to live my life in the present and accept what is. Without darkness, there would be no light. It’s the balance of life. Without dark times, we’d never be able to recognize the light times.
I want to inspire people, particularly women. I’m a single mother. I had a dream and it came true. It wasn’t always easy, but I did it. I’ve been working and following what I’m passionate about and it’s led me to where I am today.
Where I am is enjoying my life and figuring out new ways of getting the word out about products being handmade in America – sustainable and authentic.
