Life is beautifully messy. It is as simple as it is complex. It is as triumphant as it is tragic. It is as hopeful as it is dreaded. It is how we see it and how we are seen.
How do I see life? I see life through the lens of focusing on the positives in any situation. I know that, even in challenges, there is a gift waiting to be uncovered and seen – the diamond in the rough, the needle in the haystack. When I place my focus on the positives, gratitude grows.
It’s easy to be appreciative and grateful for experiences that are happy and loving. Yet gratitude, in moments of fear and despair, is equally powerful. It’s when we can see gratitude in the “I don’t want this in my life” that we can refocus and reframe the experience into what we do want in our lives.
I see through hatred to see hurt as I truly believe those who hate others are coming from deep personal hurt. I see through right and wrong to see choice and consequences. I see life through positive possibilities, knowing that each experience allows me to open my heart and love more
How am I seen? All of us, including myself, want to be seen and feel we matter in this world, yet we don’t have control over how others see us. However, we do have control over how we let the perceptions of others affect us.
Each day I consciously choose (and sometimes it’s an hour-by-hour choice) to bring my best self to life by knowing I have control. I get to choose how I show up in life. When I put my best foot forward, that is enough.
In moments that I don’t show up as my best self, I step into a space of gratitude and forgiveness. I know every situation provides me an opportunity to grow, to forgive, and be forgiven.
As I consciously choose to see the best in myself, others, and the world, I am brought to a space of deep clarity, of truly knowing that I create my reality by seeing it as I want it to be – beautifully messy, imperfectly perfect, and filled with endless opportunities to love and be loved. It brings me to the understanding, that as I see, I am seen.
