passion

To me, when talking about finding meaning in life, Joseph Campbell summed it up by saying “follow your bliss.” He had so many pearls of wisdom on the subject. I’ve been fortunate. I took the risk of pursuing my passion—music—and having it work out.
Now, making music that makes a real difference for people is what I find most meaningful. I’ve worked on a lot of music projects. It’s always a privilege. At this point, the more potently and powerfully I can help people feel better with song and sound, the happier I am. I’ve always loved music, but I didn’t feel called to pursue its use for wellness until a personal family tragedy was a catalyst for me to find meaning in a new way.
I guess finding meaning can come in the form of suffering. I know I’ve had that experience…the phoenix rising from the ashes sort of thing. I do think we’re all wired to look for a sense of purpose. Everyone has something great to offer.
I find myself saying to people “you move towards what you focus on.” Focus on what is great about you and how you want that to show up in the world. That’s my best pearl of wisdom in terms of gathering moments of fulfillment to hold on to. I guess that’s my way of saying “follow your bliss.” I hope it helps.
