give thanks

It’s Thanksgiving! Are you experiencing how good giving thanks feels? One of the most meaningful things in my life is the opportunity to serve. And I have found that being involved with service actually brings thanks-giving into every day.
This lesson was brought home to me through my participation many years ago in something called an Insight Seminar. It made such a profound impact on me that it became one of the avenues through which I have chosen to serve today.
I have found that it actually takes work to maintain a sense of gratitude. The world with its hassles and challenges has a way of eroding that focus. But every time I walk into an Insight graduation, especially a teen seminar graduation, I find the awareness of gratitude and thanks-giving rekindled. And I see it very much alive in those around me.
Insight has become a proud partner of Giving Tuesday, a celebration of our country’s great tradition of generosity. It’s a simple idea: On Tuesday, November 27, charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to spend your money on something positive.
Think of how easy it is for so many of us to overindulge this time of year because we have such abundance. I wonder just how aware we are of the great abundance we’ve been blessed with or how easy it is to overlook just how much we already have.
Yesterday and over the next few days, Insight veterans will be sharing how they recognize the joy and fulfillment inherent in serving. I invite you to give to any worthy cause of your choice to bring a greater sense of connection, satisfaction and goodness into your life.
Be inspired in this giving season to see for yourself how thankful you might be to serve for the sheer joy of it.
