all of it

Being a mother. A wife. A businesswoman. A designer. These all collectively make “Lana” today. They are important because they make me a whole person.
Of course being a mother takes precedent. It has the most meaning but being a wife is what got me to be a mother in the first place. For me to be an individual, my business is quite meaningful to me. I guess I am a trifecta of meaning.
The creative process of being a designer really changed me, but once I had my daughter, Blake, everything took a much larger importance. Now it revolves around creating something for her, leaving a mark and creating a legacy for her.
It took me a very long time to believe this, but now I know that there is truly a reason for everything that happens. I know that the only way to get to this moment is to live through experiences. I’m not a religious person, but I do believe that there is something much higher than we are. It guides us to the place we need to be. The frustration we feel when we don’t get to that place comes from not having patience. Believe me, I am not there yet. I’m still trying to find that peace.
I think when you’re off track the best thing you can do is surround yourself with people that make you laugh. People that know the real you, no matter who you are. People that will listen to you and show you a great time. Those are the important things in life: to love and to laugh.
You have to believe in yourself and you have to have people around you that want the best for you and want to help you reach your very best. In each of us there is talent. There is passion.
