let it be

I’ve lived a very unusual and wonderful life. I had the privilege of leaving school in tenth grade in the pursuit of happiness. It’s been a magical journey of ups and downs and it’s nowhere near ending. There’s one thing I keep learning over and over. Let it be. Every time that I stress about what’s next and the future and my career and life and everything stressful, I get nowhere.
Last summer I was so darn busy. From May til August I was solidly booked with crazy, exciting things. I was in New York seeing Broadway shows and traipsing through London, Paris, Saint Tropez, and Italy. I spent five weeks at Northwestern studying Theater Design/Tech in the Cherubs program. I went to the Middle of Nowhere, Tennessee to attend East Tennessee Unschooling Camp (etusc) with a bunch of awesome people that I had never met.
During those months, sometimes the fear and stress would leak in. I had NOTHING planned after August and it was daunting. Most of my friends would be starting senior year and I had no plan, no schedule, no security. I had moments of being terrified. But I made myself plant my feet in the present and enjoy every experience that was whirling past me.
While I was still in Chicago, I got an email offering me a job in September. That job blended into another job and so forth and so on. It worked out. It always, always does.
I know that I’m lucky because I am still young, and I don’t need to fully support myself yet financially. This gives me an advantage in following my dreams. However, I truly believe anyone can live like I do. When you follow your passions and try to find the meaning in every moment, the possibilities are endless.
