yoga

My health affects everything I am, whether I’m being a present mother, a loving wife, a hard-working business owner, an understanding daughter, or a friend.
After my children were born, I understood true responsibility and how empowering it can be. Everything I do is for my family. There’s not a lot of ambiguity in my life. I stay strong, fit, and healthy so I can be at my personal best for my family. No excuses.
I’ve practiced yoga for more than 12 years now and am a long-term believer in the benefits it provides. I love it that my yoga practice slows me down. My constant work is to take my yoga off the mat. That practice forces me to take time – even if only five minutes – to center myself. I close my eyes, think about what I’m grateful for, and say it out loud. If it’s a person that I’m grateful for, I tell them I’m thankful for them.
Are you willing to slow down long enough to look into the eyes of the person giving you a coffee and say, “Thank you?” One of my teachers once said, “Bring your tongue to the roof of your mouth and tap it a couple of times, as a way to slow down, connect, and get grounded in the moment.”
I want to live free of deferring. If you wait too long or don’t live the life you want, hesitation becomes and defines your life. The habits and patterns of what you don’t want start to structure your life. So if you want something, whatever it is, do it, ask for it, create an intention around it, be unreasonable about it, fail around it. Simply (and at the risk of being clichéd) do it.
Life is in the action. If you take the time to set your intention and put that intention into action – look out! The life you want is coming.
