What’s most meaningful to me is spending time with family and friends. As a kid, I didn’t always feel this way and often wondered where I came from. My family likes to laugh and have fun telling stories about themselves and others. I was sure other families didn’t do that and I felt some stories need not be repeated. In hindsight, hearing those stories were some of the most fun times in my life. Through them, a new awareness was revealed: What I saw as negative was my family’s way of teaching and expressing love. More and more as I get older, I find myself embracing their joyous and gentle way of being.
I stay engaged in a meaningful life by setting clear and positive intentions on a daily basis. I’ve come to see that every day I write, produce, direct, and star in my own life. I have influence over my every interaction and experience. Most experiences are affected by the energy and attitude I exude. When I show up in a positive way, I have positive experiences. When I show up with negative energy, things don’t always go that well. My new awareness is that outer experience really is a reflection of inner reality.
My words of wisdom for right now are to always take the next best step.
I was telling a good friend how I’d mapped out every step along the way leading to one particular goal. About two steps in, the course I’d mapped out was no longer relevant because so much had already changed. Since nothing then made sense except my end goal, I took baby steps and after each one evaluated and made the next best move I could make toward my end goal. Things happened along the way that astonished me. When I reached my goal and looked back, I saw that I could never have predicted some of the steps I took to reach my goal. Along the way, I gained courage and confidence, and received helping hands from people I didn’t even know were paying attention. From this new awareness, I encourage everyone to go for whatever they wish to accomplish. Take baby steps, evaluate, and then take your next best step. Don’t allow yourself to be stalled because things aren’t coming together exactly as you planned. The Universe always has a better plan than we do.
