humankind

As a young girl, I tended to notice qualities in people like generosity, creativity, beauty, passion, joy. I would delight in the authenticity I observed and was inspired to see people express unfailing commitment to what they believed to be necessary in life and in the world. I probably first saw it at home and, as a result, I’ve pursued those things in my own life, as a spiritual seeker, as someone curious about the world, and particularly as someone curious about people.
It’s been said that finding the positive in a difficult situation is a gift. I find that that’s what keeps me on track. I strive toward seeing the good in all people and all things and by focusing on the positives. Over time, I’ve come to discover that when I can focus on the positive, my life is filled with positives. The negatives may still be there – and I certainly acknowledge them, however, that’s not where I place my attention.
I strongly feel that we’re all – individually and collectively – being called forward in the world today to hold a stronger focus on loving and awareness. Because of this, a priority in my life is supporting philanthropy, which, broadly defined, is “love for humankind.” That resonates with me.
One of my guiding principles is “to thine own self be true.” My passion is connecting people, ideas, actions, and resources for the greater good. And if that’s making the world a more kind, loving, and compassionate place, then I’m being true to myself and doing my part.
