get started

I grew up in a remote village in Bangladesh where there’s still no access to electricity. Rather than going to school, children are burdened by tough physical labor. Young people miss golden opportunities because they don’t have necessary information.
There was a time when I found my world to be cruel and motionless. Then, as it always does, life gave me a chance. I managed to escape the endless circle, but soon realized that I didn’t want to leave. This is where I belong. I don’t want to leave this circle. I want to break it. Creating change in whatever small way possible is the only way to do so.
Fundamentally, the world has changed. With the advent of advanced technology, social media platforms, and increasing globalization, the responsibilities and challenges for individual humans have increased in many ways. We’re living in a new world tamed by recession, tortured by unwelcome wars, flooded by poverty, and tormented by increasing youth unemployment.
The old world of mediocrity has gone. Being inventive and creative is no longer an extraordinary act, but a job requirement. To survive, we must to be indispensable and the only way to be indispensable is to get started and make something happen.
As a youth of a Third World country, I know how hard it is to realize a dream, to break stagnation and move forward. I understand the gap between having opportunity and having the power to use that opportunity. Dreams may be cheap, but I believe we humans are capable of achieving anything we dream of, aspire to, and long for.
I care about getting started and helping others do the same. Young people in Bangladesh aren’t getting enough to be able to grow. I want to change that by providing them with information, knowledge, and inspiration. When more people take action to impact their environment, our world will be a better place to live. Once we get started, we can make a real difference.
Create something – anything – and make something happen. To become indispensable in a time when everyone and everything is dispensable, one must have an indispensable skill. That skill is to get started. Everyone can start something, yet so few people do. Those are the people who survive.
