honor

I strive to respect, love, and honor myself and others. Every day I want to help people fulfill their dreams and actualize their life’s purpose. I receive great joy when I’m able to help others find the love and respect that comes from acknowledging ourselves for being the best we can be and honoring the special gifts God has given us.
During a seminar, I was given an assignment to go out during the lunch break and talk with someone in need. I met an older man named Justin who was homeless, ragged, and dirty from living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles. We ate lunch together and talked about life. As we finished, I gave him a $100 bill and my card and wished him well. He was very thankful and said that one day he would pay me back.
Many years later, I was sitting in my office when my assistant told me there was a man there to see me. A thin, nice-looking, middle-aged man came in and said, “Hi, my name is Justin. I wanted to return the $100 you gave me. Thank you for caring and for believing in me. I’ve started a little bakery business now and am on my feet. Thank you.” He gave me the $100 bill, we talked for a few minutes, and then he was gone. I was speechless. He’d touched my heart and revealed to me the value in helping another soul.
In their drive for fulfillment or to reach goals, many people take shortcuts or abuse the temple of the body, failing to make choices that honor their own well-being. When I’m not treating myself right, I get agitated and uncomfortable. To get back on track, I surrender my illusion of control and turn all my challenges over to God and my guru. I step back and ask myself, Am I being respectful, loving, and honoring of myself and others?
I want to be comfortable knowing that who I am is enough and acknowledging that I am love. I want to treat everyone I meet, no matter who they might be, with that same respect.
