balance

What’s important to me is balancing my life with enough of what I have to do to be responsible and enough of what I love to do to have fun. That means making sure I’m working and taking care of my children in the basic ways they need to be taken care of, getting my bills paid on time, being charitable, and seeing my friends, but also making sure I have time to do whatever I feel like with the people I care about – going for a walk by myself, getting a massage, taking a little trip, spending spontaneous fun time with my kids or special time with my friends so we can just talk and get caught up.
It seems that so many people get wrapped up in everything they have to do that they lose sight of the things that fill them back up. They end up depleted and exhausted. I don’t want to be that person.
I often stop and ask myself what I’m missing. What have I stopped doing? Do I want to spend more time with my kids? Do I need more time alone? Am I spending enough time at home? Am I having enough time out having fun? if something’s missing, I actually write it into my schedule. Sometimes that means saying no to other things, but that’s okay.
I find ways to recharge and I make sure everything I need is actually written in on my schedule. I schedule time to take care of my obligations and to just be free and enjoy my life.
