I come alive when I share in the moment. Passion and purpose are not in big accomplishments. They’re right here. I see that with mother and child, which is the simplest connection. When I hold a baby in my arms, my heart unfolds, unbinds, and I become present.
More than wanting to know that I am loved, I want to know that I am loving. I feel so much freer because I’m not going out trying to find people to love me. It’s a reverse process.
I’ve done years of inner work to heal parts of myself that felt unloved. I had misconceptions about what I should do or be in order to love myself. That was very conditioned. I believed that if I achieved a certain amount, then I could love myself. I believed that if I had a wonderful man who adored me, then I could feel loveable. Today, if that happens, it’s an added bonus. I no longer need it to feel self-love.
I had to find what unlocked me. It’s like building a muscle at the gym. I practice. I’ve learned to forgive, and love, and love a little more, and heal, and heal a little more, and when I find another layer, I say, Wow! I have this belief, and it’s blocking me. Then I go after the reason it’s blocking me, and I heal that.
It’s a process. And it can be learned. We can ask for help from friends, from teachers, and from Spirit. We don’t need to do it alone.
