I’ve studied different religions throughout my life – Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism. Back in the early 80s, I went to a ministerial school through what is now the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment. I spent three years there and for about two years I had my own small ministry. At one point, I just decided I didn’t have anything to say to people that they didn’t already know or couldn’t figure out for themselves.
At this point in my life, I’m not a practicing member of any particular religion. I think all religions have the same message at their core.
For me, it’s about keeping myself aware and present, remembering who I am at the very core of myself and letting that shine forth. I can do that as long as I’m present. If I move out of the present and go into the future or try to worry about “‘Gee, am I going to get paid here?” or “Are they going to like me?” then it all just vanishes.
I just had my 70th birthday, yet when people look at me, they think I’m in my early 50s (and I think I’m still in my 40s!), so I’m blessed with a youthful face and a lot of energy. I had a really good job, but a year ago I lost it to a corporate merger. I had to face my money fears as a single, more mature woman. That’s been such a blessing, because I’ve got to move past all that. We know these things in our inner core, but to be able to manifest them and really live it, to walk the talk – that’s what I’ve been able to come to in the last couple of years. It’s beautiful.
