In the absence of knowledge, we often create myths. The myth of who we are, of why we make the decisions we do, of what our relationships mean, of how our businesses satisfy our higher aims. I call those myths understandable misinterpretations.
We pay a huge price for such understandable misinterpretations. The first price we pay by spending years walking false trails that we started down the moment we made those understandable misinterpretations, trails we quite wrongly think of as “my path.” If we care to look closely at the genesis of those paths, we can see that most of us are walking obliviously down false paths of our own making.
The second price we pay because walking down a false trail leads us increasingly away from the true trail, a trail not necessarily known about, but which would or could, if one were aware of it, lead to a much different and more meaningful destination.
Destinations are a critical part of a meaningful life. I take the stand that destinations are the point of our lives. So, what are those destinations? What destination are you and I aiming for? I think there is only one. Have you thought about what that one destination might be? Let me know.
