friendship

Through creative friendship I have the ability to cross all borders – all cultures or physical spaces – and have an experience with someone who shows me a mirror of myself. I can see a whole other part of myself that maybe I’d normally not otherwise have been exposed to.
I feel very blessed to have so many different kinds of friends in my life. They all bring something specific. One friendship brings strength to my life and supports me when I need it. Another helps me when I need to laugh. Another friend goes for walks in the woods with me. Others expose me to different cultures – like when we eat different kinds of foods they’ve made. I have lots of songwriter friends who sing to me and share their moving words and music with me.
I’ve always liked to have lots of different kinds of people around and in my life. It makes life so much more interesting and meaningful and colorful. I feel like this world is for learning and expressing what we learn and for sharing. The more cultures and people we have in our family, the more interesting it gets. We can choose to go out and seek the family we want. We can be open to them and with them.
I want to be around people who are completely in love with and passionate about the mad adventure of where they are, rather than complaining and not making the choices to change.
Something I’m currently focused on is completely surrendering to what’s happening and truly being able to let go of situations that have caused me pain. I try to not hold on so much. I try to figure out why something happened, let it go, and move forward. I don’t mean letting it go just to the point where I’m okay talking about it. I mean completely surrendering and letting it go. In this, as in most everything, creativity and great friendships are a big help.
